Interesting idea for a Germs-related community! There are several others floating around, but at this one, from its premise and mission statement, I get a much more intellectual feeling and less of a elite punk-club feeling. Great idea!

What do you people think of the song, "Communist Eyes", in terms of its message? I'm a little confused on whether Darby meant to give a sympathetic gaze toward communism or not. It seems a bit negative of a message, but they lyrical content (as well as the music) is simply beautiful. I guess given Darby's inclination toward fascism, it would be a sort of anit-communist message... sad. But at any rate, it's an amazing song, don't you think?

Is it too pompous, perhaps, to give an intellectual view toward the Germs and their music? I mean, sure, first and foremost it was PUNK, and I believe celebrated freedom and a backlash against the established music status quo at the time. But I also think that despite Darby Crash's violent disregard for his health and such, he had some ideas brewin' there!

Well, I guess I'm just trying to get a discussion going here, but I hope it works! ^_^

this is the circle one club, see user info for all things regarding the creation and guidelines of this forum. we started it basically because we were looking for an open forum of political discussion, but do whatever you want: trade tapes, recruit people for projects, post zine pages, solicit polls, start a band or a street team, shamelessly self-promote, educate people about a local scene, rant and rave, make a meaningful connection with people. that's what darby crash had in mind; we just took the fascism out.
